Taps are used for kitchen sinks, bathroom sinks, showers, bathtubs, wash basins, etc. Types of taps are as versatile as the uses of taps. Here’s some information about different types of taps:
- Monobloc Taps: Taps with a single handle which supply both hot and cold water. Semi circular motions determine the temperature of water in these taps, i.e, left side for hot water and right side for cold water.
- Compression taps: The taps which are turned on/off by twisting the handle are called compression taps.
- Cartridge taps: The cartridge inserted in these taps control the water flow when they’re moved up and down, hence the name. They also control temperature with side to side movements.
- Disc taps: The handle of these taps are aligned with ceramic discs which allow to turn on/off the flow of water.
- Ball taps: These taps have a hollow ball inserted inside to regulate the water flow which is controlled by the handle of the tap.
Any type of tap consist this one leather or rubber ring which stops the water flow of the tap by putting pressure on it. When this ring is misplaced or worn-out then the tap starts leaking.
